THE LAST KNOCK presents: Urban Horror with TraCee

THE LAST KNOCK horror podcast on Urban Horror
THE LAST KNOCK opens the door to Urban Horror…

Urban Horror: What is it anyway?

The Last Knock team of Billy and Jonny sit down with the queen of SCRM Radio, TraCee to find out what Urban Horror is all about.

We’ll dive into the definition, alternate interpretations, and what essentially black-centric horror really means for the genre.

No slab of concrete will be left unturned as we traverse city-based horror films and black cinema, most notably from the 1970’s to today. We’ll also tackle why the “black guy” amongst a horror cast isn’t about to make it to the end credits…

We’ll look at many films from Tony Todd’s performance in Candyman to Pam Grier and Snoop Dogg in Bones, to Tales from the Hood and Jordan Peele’s much celebrated film, Get Out, among others.

What’s next for Urban Horror…

But are the winds of Urban Horror films changing and who will watch them? Will these films have a wider release like Get Out, or go direct to video like the forthcoming Tales from the Hood 2?

We’ll see if change is on the horizon, and if we’ll finally just have characters inhabiting a film based on acting talent instead of color and cultural expectations.

Don’t miss the Urban Horror discussion and feel free to leave your comments. After all, we take no prisoners, so why should you?
