THE LAST KNOCK podcast presents: Revenge

THE LAST KNOCK horror podcast on Revenge
THE LAST KNOCK opens the door to Revenge…

Revenge: My Only Friend…

Horror has one of the most unique and disturbing sub-genres in all of cinema: rape. Maybe it’s not an official sub-genre, but it certainly does exist. Now, you can add the French film, Revenge to this most unsettling category.

Writer/Director Coralie Fargeat’s first feature explores one woman’s quest to survive an ordeal that doesn’t seem to end. In Revenge, Jen (Matilda Lutz) must overcome an extreme nightmare to live another day.

But does this particular story work and does it bring something new to horror? Billy and Jonny explore all Revenge has to offer, and guess what – they often disagree.

Even so, the pair look at all aspects of the film, from Robrecht Heyvaert’s phenomenal cinematography to acting, and from writing to realism. The Last Knock also looks at the multiple elements of imagery in Revenge, including ants, apples, artwork, blood, and even Jen’s own fortress of solitude. (And the pair avoided the obvious use of men with phallic symbols – um… guns.)

So take the time to listen in and find out who sees Revenge your way…

Fair warning: The “spoiler alert” is definitely in play…
