The Last Knock opens the door to Jacob’s Ladder…

Jacob’s Ladder: 30 Years of Existential Horror

In 1990, Jacob’s Ladder grabbed horror fans by the throat. Thirty years late, it still won’t let us go.

Directed by Adrian Lyne (Fatal Attraction, Lolita, and yes, Flashdance), brought Bruce Joel Rubin’s intense and unyielding nightmare from page to screen.

Although the movie didn’t fare well in theaters (it had a great opening weekend until Child’s Play 2 came along), Jacob’s Ladder has received enough critical claim to keep it at the top for psychological horror.

Inhabited with excellent characters brought to life by an exceptional cast, the non-linear narrative is hard to ignore. After all, we walk with Jacob (Tim Robbins) trying to unravel a surreal mystery with real life consequences.

More to Explore

Due to its thematic weight and stellar imagery, Jacob’s Ladder has much to explore. But don’t worry, your cohosts have worked extra hard to keep this spoiler-free.

We’ll focus on themes, story, characters, special effects, cinematography, editing, and much more.

If you haven’t seen this incredible film before, now may be the perfect time if you like mind-bending horror with one of the genre’s most gasp-worthy endings.
