THE LAST KNOCK presents: Dracula

THE LAST KNOCK horror podcast on Dracula
THE LAST KNOCK opens the door to Dracula…

Dracula

Dracula, the dark prince from Transylvania has been a fang in people’s sides since he first appeared in Bram Stoker’s novel in 1897.

We explore the undead beast of the Carpathian mountain region, and uncover the myths and truths to Dracula. We’ll look at Vlad the Impaler, aka Vlad Dracul, from Wallachia to the icon’s first appearance in the Silent Era classic, Nosferatu. That means we’ll check out some of the stars who’ve portrayed “The Master” on the silver screen, from Max Schreck and Klaus Kinski, to Bela Lugosi and Carlos Villarías, and don’t forget Frank Langella, Duncan Regehr, Gary Oldman, and the star who played him the most, Christopher Lee. And we definitely bring the great Shakepearean actor, William Marshall as Blacula into the bloody fray.

The fanged fun doesn’t stop there. We’ll take a look at what Dracula represents, and the themes that make vampires such a potent sub-genre in horror. We’ll even venture into pre-Count territory by checking out the mid-1840’s serialized Gothic horror, Varney the Vampire (aka The Feast of Blood), and Carmilla, the novella from Joseph Sheridan La Fanu, which appeared a quarter century before Bram Stoker’s famous vampire novel.
